Nicole Larizza, Founder & Chief Nutrition Officer of Nourish Our Girls, is pleased to announce that her organization will be the beneficiary of proceeds from the Kids Fun Run at this year’s 2014 Donnelly Dash Community Challenge, to be held on Sunday April 13, 2014 in Fairfield, CT. The Donnelly Dash charitable event is a 3.5 mile run, a 1.8 mile walk and a Kids Fun Run in memory of Tim & Kim Donnelly.
The Kids Fun Run is held 45 minutes before the Donnelly Dash Road Race and includes races of various distances to accommodate all youth age groups. More than 50 children have participated in the run each of the last two years which has allowed the event to grow and involve a larger segment of the Fairfield community.
Nourish Our Girls was founded by nutritionist Nicole Larizza and is dedicated to educating families and girls ages 5-18 about the importance of making healthy and smart food choices to help decrease their risk of breast cancer as an adult. According to recent and compelling research, early life eating habits and lifestyle choices can make a difference in reducing a young girl’s risk of breast cancer later on in life.
Breast cancer is the fourth most common cause of death among women in the United States. At current rates, one in eight girls born today will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.
“We are extremely excited to be the host of this tremendous community event. It provides us with a perfect audience for getting our message out about the importance of making healthy and smart food choices during the pre-adolescent and adolescent years,” said Larizza.
As the host and beneficiary of this year’s Kids Fun Run, Nourish Our Girls has established three levels of sponsorships; a single Title Sponsor, Presenting Sponsors and Contributing Sponsors. Sponsorships range between $250.00 and $500.00 for the Kids Fun Run.
