According to a February 17th article posted on Memphis Daily News, titled “Stage Door Opens Arts Opportunities to All,” a new non-profit theater has opened in Memphis. The theater, Stage Door Productions, looks to provide an opportunity for people of all ages to act and perform in shows for the community.

The article says that the founders of Stage Door Productions feel that schools cannot give students exposure to the arts due to low funding. They claim that teachers and other educators want to give students access to the arts, but cannot due to the low funding. That’s where Stage Door comes in. The article says Stage Door holds auditions for people of all ages, and tries to give everyone a part in their productions.

Last summer, Stage Door had a summer camp that attracted over 100 kids. The founders say that over 80 of the kids had no experience in the arts, and that the camp opened their eyes to drama. Stage Door looks to continue to open the eyes of people of all ages by way of the arts.
