Dr Tariq Drabu is Pleased to See Numbers of Dental Patients Rising
(PRWEB) February 21, 2014 -- Dr Tariq Drabu is a well-known and highly respected Manchester dentist. He is the owner of the successful Langley Dental Practice in Middleton, Manchester. In addition, he is the Clinical Lead Dentist for the Oral Surgery Clinical Assessment and treatment Services for NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale. For over twenty-five years he has served as an experienced family dentist and respected teacher of post graduate students.
Dr Tariq Drabu was speaking from Manchester recently. He was referring to an article which was published by the Dental Tribune website within the UK news section. The article can be read in full here.
Dr Tariq Drabu of Manchester said, “The NHS released statistics recently that clearly show a rise in the number of dental patients seeking and receiving dental treatments. This is good news indeed. However, with this rise, some questions emerge. Recently, student places have been reduced significantly, if dental patient numbers are continuing to rise then care must be taken that we do not suffer a shortage of highly qualified dentists in the near future. I warned about this in recent articles and am sorry to see that we may already be seeing signs that the cut in dental student places is an error in judgment.”
Dr Tariq Drabu, leading Manchester dentist continued, “The increases in patients also indicates some positive news. Clearly, the dental profession’s work towards increasing education and encouraging people to visit their dentist is working. I believe that although more needs to be done, this increase shows that the public are more aware of what needs to be done to enjoy good oral health. My own experience in Langley also leads me to believe that the desire for cosmetic dentistry is also encouraging more people to visit their dentists for check-ups and to seek treatment. This is excellent news because regular visits to the dentist’s chair are the best way to ensure problems are spotted before they become serious issues, or develop into disease.”
Dr Tariq Drabu, speaking from his busy practice in Manchester, closed by saying, “Health authorities recommend patients attend for dental check-ups at regular intervals of between 3 and 24 months. The rate of check-ups will be dependent upon their dental health at the last visit. The statistics show that nearly 30 million people received dental care last year. While this is good news, I hope to see the numbers continue to increase. It is the only way to ensure that the population is receiving the proper dental care it needs. Education, information and encouragement should be given by the NHS and by practising dentists, and we should all do what we can to make sure people understand how important good oral hygiene is to their overall health and well-being. I am delighted by these statistics but will not be resting. I want to do my part in ensuring these figures continue to rise and more people receive quality dental care. It is the only way to ensure Britain can enjoy good oral health across the board.”
