Irving, Texas (PRWEB) February 20, 2014
Miraca Life Sciences, the nation’s largest independent anatomical pathology lab, today announced the launch a new platform, PathConnect, developed to revolutionize the way a typical physician practice interfaces with its pathology lab, saving hours of valuable time and resources each day.
PathConnect, available for Gastroenterologists, Dermatologists, Hematologist and Urologist practices, allows physicians to create and submit electronic requisitions, automate specimen label creation, view and print daily specimen logs, and access diagnostic reports and status electronically. In addition, physician practices can search and print requisitions and diagnostic reports as well as interface with electronic health records.
Manual requisition and labeling processes are slow, prone to errors, and fraught with specimen collection uncertainty and discrepancies. PathConnect was developed with novel clinical decision support. Testing recommendations and specimen requirements were directed by our expert team of pathologists. A practice management interface includes real-time patient demographic information, eliminating duplication of effort, or errors from manual entry. PathConnect automatically prints copies of requisitions and labels requested by the user, and uses one system to order tests, and view reports.
“As a leading pathology service provider, we’ve always had a focus on technology. We have a strong history of providing workflow efficiencies and solutions to our clients. By combining our extensive experience and expertise, we’ve created a technology solution that assists healthcare professionals in advancing workflow efficiency, and guides them towards full EHR integration to get the connectivity and automation they need to become Meaningful Use compliant,” said Tom Zaves, Senior Vice President of Miraca Life Sciences.
“The new Path Connect interactive requisition format is a great tool to employ in physician offices. The program guides the user through the proper steps and prompts them to enter appropriate data, order testing correctly, and indicates the type of specimen needed for a given test. The interface option will aid the office and our staff by uploading accurate demographics and billing data and automatically populate in follow up specimens. The impact on office staff should be significant and ultimately will decrease discrepancy rates in our requisition system. This will then lead to fewer phone calls to gather correct information, which benefits the client, our own client services, and the laboratory staff. An improvement in TAT for basic studies including morphology and flow would be also expected,” said Miraca Life Sciences Director of Hematopathology, Michael Miller, MD.
