Mississauga, Ontario (PRWEB) February 21, 2014 -- Moving is always a difficult process. It involves packing, sorting, either renting a truck or hiring a moving company, but most of all, involves time and headaches.
Search Realty advises on several factors to consider when deciding to move.
THE IDEAL TIME
If a new home owner has a flexible schedule, then the optimum time to move would be spring or late fall. It is a these times that movers will find it easier to find and hire movers, as well as being charged less by truck rental companies. It must be noted as well that weekends are usually the time when the highest rates are charged by both truck rental companies and moving companies. In specific, the times that should always be avoided when considering when to move are the weekends, the first of each month and the summer. The summer time is actually when moving is at its peak.
FOR FAMILIES
For families with children who attend school, it would obviously be better to avoid a move within the school year. Here, a summer move would be optimal. Another reason the summer is the best time to move for families with children is that if moving to a new neighbourhood, this could make it easier on children who have to leave friends, as the school year is over, and it makes adjusting that much easier on them.
It should be noted that the beginning of summer and the very end of summer are actually bad times to move. Moving directly following the end of school does not give children time to adapt to the idea of moving, and to say goodbye to friends. When setting the date for a move, allow a few weeks at the new destination for children to unpack and meet new friends. They will be better prepared for the school year if they have time to make their new house their home.
HOLIDAYS
When possible, avoid moving before major holidays, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah or Rammadon. These holidays are times to spend with family and friends, thus moving would be extra difficult and stressful.
When moving, it is vital to allow enough time in a new place before the holiday season begins to allow for the opportunity to meet new people and adjust to new surroundings. But don’t forget, moving immediately after holidays could work as well, because holidays could provide a perfect opportunity for goodbyes and final get-togethers.
Most people would agree that summer is the best time to move. Children are out of school, the weather is almost guaranteed to be perfect and friends have the time to help. So if it were to come down to a specific date, Search Realty would advise that mid-July to mid-August would be the best possible time to make a move, as to avoid stress and allow time to adjust to the new surroundings and new home.
