Adelanto Elementary School District Selects THINK Together to Deliver Extended Learning Time Programs to Students
(PRWEB) February 20, 2014 -- THINK Together, the state’s largest nonprofit provider of extended learning time programs, is now partnering with the Adelanto Elementary School District to provide After School Education and Safety (ASES) programs to 11 schools serving more than 1,000 children.
This partnership increases THINK Together’s footprint in the High Desert area from 12 schools in the Victor Elementary School District to 23 schools serving 1,900 students total.
Adelanto Elementary School District and THINK Together share a mutual interest in providing students with high-quality learning experiences that help to close the achievement gap for young students living in under-resourced communities.
“We are excited about this new partnership that we believe will enhance our efforts to provide a more seamless expanded learning day for our students,” said Dr. Lily Matos DeBlieux, superintendent of Adelanto Elementary School District.
THINK Together and Adelanto Elementary School District are working together to implement a new afterschool program model, which will have an increased focus on aligning extended learning with school day instruction to create a more cohesive learning day for students.
Previously, the district operated the programs, but in October 2013, district administrators issued a request for proposals to partner with qualified after-school providers. THINK Together submitted an application and was selected.
Adelanto Elementary School District program staff members, previously employed by the district, became THINK Together employees at a new-hire orientation, conducted on Jan. 18.
“Fernando Reyes, THINK Together General Manager, and his team have done a great job establishing relationships and beginning the onboarding process,” said Randy Barth, THINK Together Founder and CEO. “We look forward to a great partnership with Adelanto.”
Over the next several months, staff working at AESD schools will be trained to deliver THINK Together curriculum, which has contributed to improved student outcomes for many of the nonprofit’s school district partners.
