FloodGate FG-5000 Series Transcoder

...will allow service providers to deploy large clusters of cloud-based transcoders at a fraction of the cost compared to other solutions.

Slinger, Wi (PRWEB) February 21, 2014

VideoPropulsion® (OTC:VPTV), leaders in the digital video broadcast industry for the highest-density, lowest-cost per stream MPEG transcoders, today announced the FloodGate FG-5600 Hailstorm with support for up to 336 simultaneous HD or SD MPEG broadcast to mobile transcodes in only 3U of rack space.

“Real-time transcoding to mobile formats is one of the primary digital television jobs of the next decade,” said Carl Pick, Chairman & CEO at VideoPropulsion, now in its 40th year of continuous operation. "We are continually striving to increase density and decrease cost per stream across our entire portfolio of MPEG stream processing products. Pushing the envelope to support over 100 transcodes per unit of rack space at a cost approaching one hundred dollars per stream, will allow service providers to deploy large clusters of cloud-based transcoders at a fraction of the cost compared to other solutions available in the marketplace today.”

In addition to the performance and cost improvements, the FG-5600 supports flexible I/O options including IP, DVB-ASI, or DVB-QAM (RF) outputs. Optional transcryption services can be added in order to decrypt incoming and/or encrypt outgoing streams - using virtually any AES-128 based encryption mechanism such as DTCP, Pro:Idiom, SamsungLYNK, Verimatrix, VSecure, and others.

The FloodGate FG-5000 Hailstorm Transcoder is available now, directly from VideoPropulsion.
