Penalizing has unfortunately become the only alternative because rewarding is difficult to do. ~ Jonathan Goodman
Jersey City, New Jersey (PRWEB) February 20, 2014
Jonathan Goodman, president of Halyard Consulting and professor for The School of Internet Marketing, hosted another interview on his weekly podcast. This interview was with Jenny Halasz of JLH Marketing, an expert in all areas of online marketing.
The discussion covered the differences between search engine optimization and user experience and how to get traffic to a site, and keep them there until they follow the call to action. Goodman and Halasz also discussed marketing to a large audience and the different aspects of technical SEO.
Some of the topics of discussion included how marketing and usability work together and the importance of understanding how Google crawls websites. Halasz stated that marketing was more about giving people the information they need on a site while usability is keeping roadblocks away. These roadblocks could be site load time or how many clicks it takes for a user to get to a certain page.
The discussion also turned to how Google penalizes websites and Halasz had the view that it should instead focus on rewarding websites. Many businesses panic once they find out they have been penalized and attempt to remove all backlinks instead of just the ones that caused the penalty.

Halasz and Goodman brought two different viewpoints to the discussion with Jenny's background revolving around large enterprises and Halyard Consulting specializing in small and medium businesses.
