Glenview's Redesigned Website Sets New Standards for Municipalities
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 24, 2014 -- The Village of Glenview, a suburb 18 miles north of Chicago, recently launched its newly redesigned website (http://www.glenview.il.us). The website was designed and developed by Intechnic (http://www.intechnic.com) – a Chicago-based leader in web design.
The website has dramatically changed the way residents, businesses and visitors interact with their local government. It is not organized by department like the traditional municipal website, which makes it difficult for users to find information. A resident seeking information about snow plowing on a traditional municipal site, for example, would need to know that the service is provided by the Public Works Department. Instead, Intechnic organized the information on Glenview’s redesigned website according to the service or program provided to residents, businesses and visitors.
The website also features quick links for users to pay utility bills and parking tickets, renew a license and access frequently requested information. Intechnic designed the website to work on modern mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets, so users are able to easily find desired information regardless of how they access the website. While responsive design is becoming much more prevalent in commercial websites, it is rarely used by the public sector.
The initial response to the redesigned website has been overwhelmingly positive, with members of the Glenview community praising it as graphically pleasing and easy to navigate.
“Providing quality, reliable and efficient public services are the core responsibilities of a municipality, and an accessible, user-friendly website is an important part of that,” Glenview Village President Jim Patterson said. “The bold new design of the Village of Glenview’s website is focused on better serving residents, businesses and visitors. We’re pleased it has been well received.”
"Most municipal websites underperform in areas of user experience, message delivery, image presentation and mobile support," said Andrew Kucheriavy, the CEO of Intechnic. "We solved this by bringing the best in experience, technology and industry practices to create a world-class website for the Village of Glenview that is user-centric and driven in content, solutions and actions."
The redesigned website uses seasonal photographs taken specifically to showcase Glenview’s unique character and amenities. Intechnic's design team also utilized vibrant color themes for the four sections of the website -- Residents, Businesses, Government and Visitors -- making the navigation of the website that much easier. These combined elements not only provides users with a unique and rewarding experience, but also pleases the eyes and mind. The result is a website that validates all the reasons why the Village of Glenview is a great place to live, work and visit.
