Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Blues Guitar Lesson by Muddy Waters in the Style of Catfish Blues - Hot Guitar Riff in E”
(PRWEB) February 21, 2014 -- A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
“Muddy Waters was the man”, says MacLennan, “if you haven’t listened to any of his music you should go online right now and take a listen because he influenced a lot of early rock & roll guitar players and he just had soul for days”. Jon demonstrates the lick as follows; first you play an E Power Chord as 1/8th notes (1-&-2-&-3-&-4-&). Next he plays the first three strings together open as an up stroke and then with his second finger he plays the second fret of the third string and does a bend & release and then a pull-off to the open string and follows that with the 2nd fret of the 4th string. Finally he ends the lick by fretting the 3rd fret of the 6th string and does a slight bend and then plays the 6th string open and follows that with the 2nd fret of the 4th string.
