On 19 July 2013, Manchester City announced the signing of Alvaro Negredo on a four-year from Sevilla. He moved to the Premier League club shortly after team mate Jesús Navas.
Negredo made his Premier League debut on 19 August 2013, coming on as a substitute for countryman David Silva in a 4–0 home win against Newcastle United. He scored his first goal for the club the following match on 25 August, netting from a header in a 2–3 defeat at newly promoted Cardiff City, and also netted in the his next game, a 2–0 home success over Hull City.
On 5 November 2013 Negredo scored his first hat-trick for Manchester City, contributing to a 5–2 group stage home win against CSKA Moscow which qualified the former to the round-of-16. This was the first-ever time a Manchester City player had scored three goals in the same match in the Champions League. He repeated the feat on 8 January of the following year, contributing decisively to a 6–0 home routing of West Ham United for the Football League Cup's semifinals first leg.
Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait has this to say “Since joining from Sevilla in the summer Negredo has been a tremendous asset to Manchester City, especially in times where Sergio Aguero has been unavailable through injury. We are extremely proud of our relationship with the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) and will be producing great content you will not find anywhere else for the official PFA Facebook page for Alvaro Negredo. Fans will also have the unique opportunity to have their say with the prestigious FTBPro PFA Fans Player of the Month award. ”
Jason Hope, Content Manager of DSG believes Negredo will play a vital role in any potential success Manchester City have this season “The stats don't lie and the fact that Negredo has scored 23 goals in 33 games across all competitions suggests that his form will directly affect Manchester City's title chances and other cup credentials. We are excited to have been given the opportunity to build and help manage this PFA Facebook page.”
