Bellucci Premium, a high quality extra virgin olive oil producer, comments on an article discussing L’Espérantine de Marseille’s success in winning the Cordon Bleu’s best confectionary of the year for its olive branch-shaped Espérantine chocolates made with olive oil.

According to an article published by Olive Oil Times on February 17th titled, “Espérantine Olive Oil Chocolates: Original and Full of Flavor,” chocolatier L’Espérantine de Marseille, located in Marseille, France, won the prestigious Cordon Bleu award for its gourmet chocolates made with olive oil. The Espérantine chocolates are made with 70% pure cocoa, orange peel, almond, mints, and organic olive oil. They do not contain any additives, cream, or butter. The chocolates are shaped to look like an olive branch, with a green color and leaf shape.

The award-winning chocolate’s creator, Francesco Martorana, said his reasoning for creating this product was to combine different flavors of the Mediterranean and Marseille. The chocolates are sold in three shops in Paris, online, and at food fairs.

Natalie Sexenian, the marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, says, “Olive oil is not just for dinner. Many are using olive oil in desserts like ice cream, cakes, mousse, and even just pieces of chocolate to add a high level of decadence and exotic flavor. When combined with chocolate, olive oil adds richness. Using olive oil in desserts, in place of butter or other fats, can help cut saturated fat from any diet and replace it with heart healthy monounsaturated fat.
