Bellucci Premium, a high quality organic olive oil producer, responds to and agrees with an article published by Olive Oil Times that discusses how the Mediterranean diet has been proven to help reduce the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and cardiovascular disease.
According to a February 13th article from Olive Oil Times titled “Mediterranean Diet May Protect The Heart More than a Low-Fat Diet,” a new study analyzing diet research from 1957 until now shows evidence that those on a Mediterranean diet have a 30% lower risk of developing heart disease than those on a low-fat diet. The Mediterranean diet encourages its participants to consume olive oil, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, and fish daily. In addition to a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease, researchers were able to see a significant decrease in body weight, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and glucose levels.
Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Italian olive oil producer Bellucci Premium, says, “These findings are not very surprising, especially when you look at the chemistry of a Mediterranean diet. A Mediterranean diet is rich in olive oil, nuts, and fatty fish, which contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. These fats, known as ‘good fats’, promote heart health by lubricating the arteries so that plaque and bad fats don’t stick. Olive oil is also rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant many Americans do not get enough of in their diets.”
Bellucci Premium offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
