New Brandon Hall Group Report Tracks LMS Deployment Trends
Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- Brandon Hall Group today released LMS Trends 2014: Installed vs. SaaS Deployment, the second in a series of reports from its annual survey research on LMS buying and usage trends.
The survey reveals that 54% of LMS platforms are currently deployed in the cloud, a modest increase from the reported 50% in the previous year’s survey. But satisfaction ratings significantly favor cloud-based solutions, which had an edge in each of the six categories measured. The biggest difference was in ease of use, where users of SaaS solutions were almost 60% more likely than users of installed solutions to be highly satisfied or very highly satisfied.
SaaS clients also reported having fewer administrators, and needing less technical expertise and IT involvement when it comes to managing their LMS.
“While the survey results are in no way an indictment or endorsement of one deployment or the other, it identifies some marked differences between the two in an era when more providers are moving to a SaaS product only and support for installed solutions is dwindling,” said Brandon Hall Group Senior Learning Analyst David Wentworth, who conducted the survey and wrote the report.
The online survey garnered a total of 457 responses from a wide variety of industries and company sizes. Respondents were almost evenly split between small, mid-sized, and large organizations. About 63% of responses came from the United States. About 18% of responses came from Australia, India, Canada and the United Kingdom, with the remainder spread between 25 other countries.
Earlier this month, Brandon Hall Group released LMS Trends 2014: Satisfaction and Spending, which reported that LMS solutions are underperforming in the eyes of the organizations that use them. Less than half of respondents (45.5%) give their LMS solution high marks in terms of overall value for the price they pay. Additionally, 47.7% of respondents are looking to leave their current LMS platform and move to a new provider.
