HearingPlanet Sponsors Sold Out TEDxNashville Conference
Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- HearingPlanet, a leading national retailer of hearing aids, is a sponsor of the upcoming TEDxNashville 2014 conference, to be held on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.
In its fifth year, TEDxNashville brings together distinguished leaders in technology, entertainment, art, education, government, healthcare and other areas to share ideas that focus on creating positive changes in Middle Tennessee. This is the third year the conference has sold out.
“We are so excited to sponsor this year’s TEDxNashville,” said William Brownie, President of HearingPlanet. “TEDxNashville is an important event for our community. We’re looking forward to being inspired by the great group of speakers and interacting with attendees who are passionate about being a part of positive change. We’re encouraged that the event sold out again this year.”
The innovators, big thinkers and tastemakers speaking at this year’s conference include Marcus Whitney, technology entrepreneur and co-founder of Moontoast Inc., Kevin Huffman, Tennessee Education Commissioner, and Tasha French Lemley, co-founder and executive director of The Contributor, Nashville’s first street newspaper. Also in the group are Dan Hogan, President and CEO of medical IT company Medalogix, Chris Lee, VP of Technology at Anode, Inc. and MTSU professor Cliff Ricketts, who last year drove a solar-powered car across the country.
Unlike previous TEDxNashville conferences, this year’s conference does not have an overarching theme. Instead, there are 16 speakers talking on a wide variety of topics. Each speaker has 18 minutes to give their talk, keeping the pace quick; some talks will be interactive. Most of the speakers will be available for questions after the conference, at the after-party held in TPAC’s lobby.
“TEDxNashville is a time to recharge your creative and critical thinking batteries. Every year that I've attended, I leave the event inspired and ready to do big things,” said Jeff Horne, TEDxNashville, board member. “It's amazing to see the incredible things people are doing in our own backyard here in Nashville, and though you might not have heard of most of the speakers on our list, that's kind of the point. These are people that you need to know about.”
Other event sponsors include Emma, Healthways, Green Village Recycling, Jive! and Kerry Woo Photography, among others.
About TEDxNashville
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The local events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
