Bistro Romano Cellar Club Holds Annual Wine Tasting Event on March 4th
(PRWEB) February 23, 2014 -- Bistro Romano, a leading regional Italian restaurant in Philadelphia, is all set for yet another evening of exceptional wines and unique food pairings. On Tuesday, March 4th, 2014, the Wine Cellar Club will meet in the Bistro's Great Room of 120 for its 36th annual tasting event.
"Our Cellar Club is a savvy yet fun forum to taste the best grapes from around the World. This year we will be sampling Italian wines from Alto Adige and Sardinia to Veneto and Tuscany," said Michael Granato, Manager at Bistro Romano.
Reminiscent of the richness of America's historic past, Bistro Romano is a real charmer. The restaurant is housed in what used to be home to a wealthy merchant, built in the early 1700s. The property later signified an endpoint on the Underground Railroad, where the restaurant was established in 1973 and eventually made a mark for itself as one of Philly's top Italian dining destinations.
While Philly is known for its array of specialty diners, cellar clubs are a rarity – making Bistro Romano is a standout in this aspect. Consistently proving its expertise for wines, the Bistro has consecutively received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for the years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, the Bistro also received the Wine Spectator Best of Award (Two Glass honor) of Excellence.
The Wine Cellar Club meets in the Bistro's Room 120 six times a year, exploring fine wines while mingling with guests who share their passion. The yearly event features wine authorities who gladly impart their knowledge to the forum participants. Come March 4th, the forum will be graced by Nico Raia from Banville & Jones Wine Co., full service Italian wine importers based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In an informal setting, guests at the Wine Cellar Club Tasting will enjoy an elegant dinner buffet to be paired with the featured wines. Placed presentations will include an extensive selection of imported Italian cheeses from DiBruno’s Bros., as well as cured Italian meats. An assortment of desserts, coffee and tea will conclude the presentation. Wine Cellar Club forum guests can interact with Mr. Raia as guest wine expert throughout the evening.
For $90 per person (exclusive of 8% tax and 20% gratuity), Cellar Club Tasting attendees will not only satisfy their palates with fine wine; they will also get the chance to meet and speak with DiBruno’s Bros. cheese monger Matt Shankle. Participants will also receive a $20.00 Grazie Gift Certificate and a complimentary bottle of the wine that will be presented at the Club Tasting.
