Nu Echo Announces General Availability of Rivr, a Lightweight Open-Source VoiceXML Dialogue Engine for Java Developers
Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- Nu Echo, a contact center and speech recognition solutions provider, is proud to announce the general availability of Rivr (http://rivr.nuecho.com), a lightweight open-source dialogue engine that enables Java developers to easily create enterprise-grade VoiceXML applications.
Rivr allows enterprise developers to easily create VoiceXML applications with an OO approach, using the Java tools they learned to know and love. Rivr not only allows them to efficiently leverage their existing development workflow, including code coverage, unit tests, continuous build server, and war deployment, but they can also leverage any JVM language, including Java, Scala, Groovy, JPython, JRuby, or Clojure.
Rivr, Nu Echo’s fourth generation VoiceXML application framework, is the result of a quest to find an efficient, robust, and intuitive approach to VoiceXML applications development. "Rivr has been built over 10 years of hands-on experience with large corporate organizations. Rivr is not an experiment; it’s a proven software with several active deployments, including some at large financial institutions and utilities," says Dominique Boucher, Nu Echo's CTO.
With this major milestone, enterprises can now rely on a robust, stable infrastructure to build VoiceXML applications for their contact centers or communication solutions. "Rivr truly tackles a yet to be addressed space in the VoiceXML development landscape," says Nikos Patsis, CEO of VoiceWeb, one of Nu Echo’s European partners. "It's refreshing."
Since the introduction of Rivr in August 2013, the Nu Echo team put a lot of effort to polish the API, fix stability issues, support more VoiceXML platforms, and provide developers with comprehensive documentation. In particular, a complete cookbook, with examples covering most application development use cases is now available and will continue to grow in the upcoming months.
Rivr supports all VoiceXML primitives including DTMF, speech recognition, TTS, recordings, subdialogs, objects, scripts, and transfers, while being compatible with standards-compliant platforms, including Genesys, Cisco, Avaya, and Voxeo.
