Luzern, Switzerland (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- The International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth (ISfTeH), a not-for-profit society that facilitates the international dissemination of knowledge and experience in Telemedicine and eHealth, announced today the election of Dr. Pirkko Kouri and Professor Anthony Maeder, as new board members.
Dr. Pirkko Kouri from the Finnish Society of Telmedicine and eHealth (FSfTeH) is currently the Principal Lecturer in Healthcare Technology at Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Dr. Kouri has extensive experience in eHealth projects that focus on the use of mobile technology in the field of mother-child healthcare and is known for her PhD work titled 'Development of Maternity Clinic on the Net service – views of pregnant families and professionals'.
Anthony Maeder from the Australasian Telehealth Society (ATHS) is currently a Professor in Health Informatics at the University of Western Sydney where he leads the eHealth Research Group and directs the Telehealth Research & Innovation Laboratory. Professor Maeder has years of experience with health informatics, computer science, and systems engineering.
“Dr. Kouri and Professor Maeder are tremendous complements to our existing board. Their unique expertise in woman-child healthcare and health informatics are both areas we see growth opportunities for telemedicine and eHealth,” commented Dr. Andy Fischer, President of ISfTeH.
Dr. Pirkko Kouri and Prof. Maeder join an international Board of eight other members: Dr. Andy Fischer (Switzerland), Mr. Steve Normandin (USA), Mr. Frank Lievens (Belgium), Professor Rupert Gerzer (Germany), Professor Rifat Latifi (USA), Dr. Moretlo Molefi (South Africa), Dr. André Petitet (France), Dr. Adolfo Sparenberg (Brazil).
