The Applied Innovation Institute (the Institute) today announced that the World Finals of the University Mobile Challenge™ will be held at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday 24 February and Tuesday 25 February 2014. The University Mobile Challenge, now in its forth year, is a two-day event consisting of a one-day intensive boot camp that prepares teams for a one-day pitch competition. The University Mobile Challenge, designed to provide a learning experience for young entrepreneurs, gives fledgling businesses an opportunity to showcase their mobile applications on an international stage while receiving useful feedback from mobile industry specialists.
More than a business plan competition, the teams at the University Mobile Challenge are judged on the commercial and/or social viability of their application, the level of innovation, the diversity and talent of the team that they have assembled, and the level of execution and traction that they have achieved to date. To qualify for participation in the world finals, teams have already competed in local university competitions, national competitions, and on-line screening. This year's World Final host 14 teams from 13 different countries including Egypt, Estonia, France, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Spain, Switzerland, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, the United States that were selected from a field of over 170 teams.
University Mobile Challenge’s pitch competition is open to the public and will take place 25 February 2014 at Backyard, an open environment located at Fira Montjuic. The competition will begin promptly at 0930.
