Children's Book Author Tonia Allen Gould Explores the Concept of Home in Her New Book
Santa Rosa Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 03, 2014 -- Children’s author Tonia Allen Gould believes “home” should be a sanctuary for kids, a place where they feel safe, secure, and loved. The concept of home is very personal to Gould, as she was moved into foster care after child services discovered she was suffering from physical abuse at fifteen. Now an adult with almost twenty years of parenthood and entrepreneurialism under her belt, Tonia is a living, breathing example that is possible to break that cycle of abuse and to go out and carve a path for oneself.
In her new picture book, Samuel T. Moore of Corte Magore (Mira Digital Publishing, 2014) and app (Skies America Publishing, 2013), Gould introduces young readers to a cartoon land and sea fiddler crab (drawn by former SpongeBob SquarePants storyboard directors) who wants to build his home on the idyllic shores of Corte Magore, but must overcome obstacles to do so.
“I want to show children that life isn’t always peaches and cream,” says Gould. “But if you’re willing to put your nose to the grindstone and ignore the bullies and the naysayers, in the end, everything usually works out okay.”
In a thoughtful interview, Gould can explore the following topics:
• Overcoming difficult circumstances as a child
• Dedication, independence, and hard work
• Discussing the concept of home with young children
• How books encouraged her to dream for a better life
• Kids & technology – why she first launched her book as an iPad app
After leaving the foster care system, Gould moved to California and built a thriving marketing and promotions agency with a great deal of perseverance and self-reliance.
“In some ways, this book is about coming to California – my Corte Magore,” Gould says. “It’s about leaving my past behind by working very hard and daring to dream of something better for myself and my own family.”
Tonia Allen Gould is a wife, mother, author, marketing expert, and sought after speaker. She is the founder and CEO of Tagsource, an award-winning nineteen-year-old consumer promotions and marketing agency.
In Samuel T. Moore of Corte Magore, Gould explores the concepts of perseverance, hard work, bullying, and finding a place to call home for young readers. Samuel T. Moore of Corte Magore is available through the iTunes store for $3.99.
