Ware Academy Admissions Open for 2014-2015 School Year
Gloucester, VA (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- Ware Academy is pleased to announce open enrollment season for the 2014-2015 school year.
Founded in 1949 and located just one mile from Gloucester, Va.’s historic courthouse district, Ware Academy offers education for 3-year-olds enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten studies through eighth grade.
“We are proud to be part of this community and honored each time a student and their family chooses Ware Academy,” said Thomas. L. Thomas, III, Ware Academy’s Head of School. “As soon as students start in our primary school, we emphasize the importance of community so that by the time our eighth graders leave us, they have a genuine desire not only to learn, but to also give back.”
Interested in learning more about Ware Academy? Start the application process by visiting Ware Academy online at http://www.wareacademy.org, call the independent school at 804.693.3825 or email Ginger James, Director of Admissions, at gjames(at)wareacademy(dot)org.
“I encourage parents to schedule a visit and take a tour of the school and see our incredible academic and enrichment programs,” James said. “We can also set up a meeting with our Head of School, any teacher you’d like to learn more from or just watch the children in action.”
Prospective parents are encouraged to come tour the campus even through the summer months.
“The academic program is rigorous,” James said. “In addition to a core curriculum of language arts, math, science, social studies and foreign language, students are exposed to the fine and performing arts, technology, library science, interscholastic athletic competition, and individual sports.”
Can’t visit? Ware Academy will mail prospective families a full application packet.
The admission application includes an application form, $75 non-refundable application fee, copy of the applicant’s birth certificate and a completed parent questionnaire form.
For students transferring in from other schools, Ware Academy requires a transcript mailed directly from the student’s current school and a teacher recommendation.
Students applying to kindergarten through eighth grade will be assessed in math, writing and reading and receive appropriate academic placement.
“Every effort is made to ensure that Ware Academy and the student are well matched and that the applicant will have a successful experience as a Ware Wave,” Thomas said.
Financial aid is also available.
Ware Academy is currently offering four scholarships to students – two rising sixth graders and two rising fifth graders – for the 2014-2015 school year. Both grade levels will receive a full tuition and a half tuition scholarship to qualifying candidates.
Applications for the scholarships are due March 14. To apply, applicants must go through the normal admissions process and meet a variety of criteria, including possess a B+ or higher GPA from the last educational institution they attended, submit three personal references from non-family members and be involved in extra-curricular and community activities.
Current parents who refer a new family to Ware Academy can earn credit toward their tuition.
