AndroGel Lawsuits Filed After Food and Drug Administration Launches Investigation Into Potential Side Effects of Testosterone Replacement Therapy Drugs
(PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- The testosterone therapy replacement lawyers at Parilman & Associates have been representing consumers across the United States who have been harmed by different medications. The attorneys at the firm have been fielding inquiries from consumers who believe that they may have suffered side effects as a result of using testosterone replacement therapy medications. The firm also hereby alerts the public that the FDA has initiated an investigation into these medications and that since the announcement of this investigation several AndroGel side effects lawsuits have been filed against the drug’s manufacturer.
The FDA announced the investigation into testosterone therapy replacement medications at the end of January, and an article that details this announcement can be found here. The article, published by Reuters, was released on January 31, 2014 and it was entitled, “U.S. FDA investigates heart risks of testosterone drugs.” Specifically, the investigation is being conducted in order to determine whether or not these testosterone replacement medications increase the risks of heart attacks, strokes and death as claimed in recent studies.
The article goes on to state that the investigation “is based on the recent publication of two studies that suggest an increased risk of heart attacks in men who take testosterone” and then it states that the FDA has not yet determined whether or not these medications increase the risk of what are known as cardiac events.
After this investigation was announced, five separate testosterone replacement therapy side effects lawsuits were filed against AbbVie, Inc., the manufacturer of the testosterone medication known as AndroGel in Illinois. These lawsuits were filed in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois. They were assigned the following case numbers: 1:14-cv-00776 (Gallagher v. AbbVie Inc., Abbott Laboratories, Inc.), 1:14-cv-00780 (Meyers v. AbbVie Inc., Abbott Laboratories, Inc.), 1:14-cv-0077 (Benn v. AbbVie Inc., Abbott Laboratories Inc.,) 1:14-cv-00777 (Marino v. AbbVie Inc., Abbott Laboratories, Inc.) and 1:14-cv-00772 (Aurecchia v. AbbVie Inc., Abbott Laboratories, Inc.). An article describing these AndroGel lawsuits can be found here.
The AndroGel lawyers at Parilman & Associates encourage anyone who may be undergoing testosterone replacement therapy to use extreme caution as they do so. Consumers are also advised to seek the advice of their medical doctors with regards to any concerns that they may have. Those seeking legal advice should do so as soon as possible.
