The Salt Studio Will Off Special Healing Sessions for Survivors of Sexual Assault to Raise Funds for Project Sister Family Services
Pasadena, California (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- PSFS provides sexual assault crisis intervention and prevention education services to women, children and men survivors of sexual assault. Our mission is to reduce the trauma and risk of sexual assault and child abuse. PSFS serves a region including 27 cities and unincorporated areas in eastern Los Angeles and western San Bernardino Counties. PSFS provides survivors a 24-hour hot line, hospital accompaniment, advocacy, information and referral, professional counseling, walk-in clinic, and support groups, as well as community education programs, senior safety, school-based prevention education for K-12 and college students, and self-defense classes.
The first session is from 5:30-6:30 PM and will focus on therapeutic writing exercises around empowerment. The second session from 7:00 -8:00 PM will be on therapeutic writing exercises for survivors of sexual assault or other forms of abuse.
Fifty percent of the proceeds of each session will be donated back to Project Sister and partial scholarships for survivors of sexual assault will be available in advance as well as day of the event.
“We want to support our community and help women who’ve experienced sexual assault to heal. Combining therapeutic writing, in the healing environment of the Salt Studio, where we can raise awareness about healing modalities and community resources like Project Sister is a win-win-win trifecta for the San Gabriel Valley community. We are excited to provide this unique opportunity.” Davina Kotulski, Ph.D. Author, Life Coach and Psychologist
“Michael and I recognize that emotional healing after trauma is an important component to wholeness and wellness and we always look to provide treatments and services that will facilitate health and healing in our community. The services that Project Sister provides are invaluable to so many in our community and we’re proud to support the good work that they do and to provide a comforting environment for Davina’s healing writing practice.” Diana Leone, co-owner of the Salt Studio and Wellness Center in Pasadena.
“This unique event will offer sexual assault survivors and other community members an opportunity to practice self-care through a guided therapeutic writing session within a healing environment. Every two seconds someone is sexually assaulted in the U.S. One out of six women has been victimized by sexual assault, so if this issue does impact you directly, chances are it impacts someone you know. It’s exciting to see community partners design an event to benefit an organization such as PSFS and raise awareness about sexual assault prevention and recovery,” said Camerina P. Schwartz, PSFS Board President
