Prime 8 Art League Announces 3rd Annual Call for Artists and Pop-Up Gallery Event
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- The Prime 8 Art League, the non-profit extension of award-winning commerce solution provider Gorilla Group, today announced its 3rd annual open call for artists (http://www.prime8artleague.com). Five (5) artists will be commissioned and paid to produce original works for a unique pop-up gallery event, with all proceeds from the event benefiting Marwen (http://www.marwen.org) a not for profit organization that provides free visual arts courses to under-served Chicago youth.
The open call for artist submissions runs through March 14th, 2014. To apply, artists should visit the Prime 8 Art League website to complete the online submissions form, where they will be required to upload a representative sample of their work that showcases their overall style. With the Art League’s focus on supporting and nurturing emerging artists of all backgrounds, styles and stages in their careers, anyone interested is strongly encouraged to submit.
Entries will be curated by The Prime 8 Art League, with the winning artists announced on March 21, 2014. The 5 selected artists will receive $750 each to produce an original work, or works, for a special pop-up gallery event. Additionally, we’re excited to announce a new partnership with BucketFeet (bucketfeet.com), an artist-designed footwear company, which has collaborated with over 65 artists in 19 countries. This year’s winners will receive special consideration to have their artwork transformed into a signature pair of BucketFeet. If selected for production, artists will receive compensation and royalties on each pair sold.
The pop-up gallery opening will take place Friday, June 20th at Chop Shop Chicago and their new 6,000 square foot event space, First Ward, in Chicago’s Bucktown neighborhood. The event will showcase the winning artists’ work, and feature a live band and DJ entertainment, food, bottomless adult refreshments, and art-themed activities.
If that weren’t enough, a charity raffle will include an array of amazing prizes, including a Chicago Blackhawks package (2 100 level game tickets, post-game player meet and greet and signed Patrick Sharp jersey) a WGN Radio ticket package (4 Chicago Cubs and 4 Chicago Blackhawks Tickets) and a dining and beverage gift pack that provides unique experiences across a selection of Lettuce Entertain You establishments. All proceeds will benefit Marwen art instruction programs. Tickets for this one-of-a-kind event can be purchased at the Prime 8 Art League website.
