We needed more stability. At the same time, we wanted to stop being so tied to our IT infrastructure. Initially, we were a little skeptical about moving our aging hardware and then bringing it back up without interruption to our users, but it worked.
Eden Prairie, Minn. (PRWEB) February 27, 2014
OneNeck® IT Solutions, a cloud hosting provider, today announced they have signed a multi-year contract with Minneapolis-based Acumen Healthcare Solutions. A medical software development company, Acumen provides the medical community with secure, accurate and cost-efficient data tracking systems.
According to CEO Bill Kobi, Acumen was looking for a way to cut IT costs and move to new virtualized cloud-based technology. He says, “Acumen has grown over the years and operating clinical trials in two separate IT environments. We needed more stability. At the same time, we wanted to stop being so tied to our IT infrastructure.”
After researching the options, Acumen selected OneNeck. Today, the company has relocated its entire IT environment onto OneNeck’s ReliaCloud™ cloud-based hosting service—but they did it in two phases. The first step was to colocate Acumen’s existing servers into OneNeck’s Tier III data center in Eden Prairie, Minn. Once successfully moved and integrated, OneNeck then began shifting Acumen from their aging IT hardware onto ReliaCloud.
“Initially, we were a little skeptical about moving our aging hardware and then bringing it back up without interruption to our users, but it worked,” Kobi stated. “And, now we have a new cloud-based environment that is saving us time and money. We are extremely happy with the conversion and the new-found stability.”
Terry Swanson, senior vice president of Solution Providers for OneNeck said, “We’re proud to ensure Acumen has a reliable and redundant environment for their IT. They were able to move into the cloud. And, because we’re managing their IT, Acumen employees are able to dedicate more time on growth and other strategic initiatives designed to grow their business.”
Relocating to the cloud also provides Acumen with peace of mind. With OneNeck, they have an IT partner who is monitoring and maintaining the data center and IT environment 24x7x365.

About Acumen Healthcare Solutions
Acumen Healthcare Solutions is a medical software development company whose products reflect the meaning of Acumen - "keenness of perception, discernment and discrimination, especially in practical matters." The individuals that founded Acumen have extensive backgrounds in establishing, designing and managing large medical databases and marketing of medical devices. In 1996, one of the company’s founders identified a need for a reliable, paperless and convenient method for gathering longitudinal patient data as well as a more convenient way to record and send clinical trial data back to the sponsor of medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech clinical trials.
After searching and experimenting, it became apparent that the most reliable method of recording and transmitting data would be through the use of an EDC (electronic data capture) system utilizing the Internet for transmission of data. Subsequently, Acumen was formed in 1997 and has developed a unique system encompassing all facets of data collection from design of electronic data collection forms (e-CRF's) through data cleansing.
