Common Sense Media's Digital Literacy & Citizenship Curriculum Now Available as iBooks Textbooks
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- Common Sense Media, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families and educators harness the power of technology responsibly, today released its K-12 Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum as a set of 8 free interactive, multimedia iBooks Textbooks, available on iBooks. These iBooks Textbooks are the latest and most dynamic way to deliver an educator-approved curriculum that teaches how to participate safely, responsibly, and respectfully in today's digital world.
"In the growing number of classrooms where students are using iPads to enhance their learning, these Multi-Touch iBooks Textbooks are essential and relevant tools," said Mike Lorion, General Manager of Education at Common Sense Media. "They embrace the benefits of the technology itself and use it to engage students in important lessons that teach 21st century skills, like Internet safety, recognizing and preventing cyberbullying, and online privacy and reputation."
Common Sense Media’s Digital Literacy and Citizenship curriculum is a research-based, modular, and standards-aligned (CCSS, NETS-S, & AASL) resource used by a growing network of more than 70,000 schools nationwide. Designed for students and for teachers, the curriculum comes alive with multimedia activities, videos, and interactive assessments.
All student-facing activities from the curriculum are presented within comprehensive, grade-relevant workbooks. Students explore developmentally-age appropriate concepts around digital literacy and citizenship with enhanced visuals, dynamic activities, videos and self-quizzes powered by interactive functionality. Students are able to write, draw, and mark on pages, highlight content, and take notes, while widgets test their knowledge and deliver their individual results directly to their teachers.
In the teacher editions, embedded instructional tips and videos of lessons in action provide in-depth background and professional development thus allowing every teacher in every grade to guide their students seamlessly and successfully though the lessons. Resources designed for parents are also included.
