NoviFlow Demonstrates Advanced L4-L7 Switching and Flow Management at the Open Networking Summit - ONS 2014
Santa Clara, California (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- NoviFlow Inc., a leading provider of high-performance OpenFlow-based switching solutions, today announced that they will be demonstrating a new OpenFlow Experimenter feature in their booth at the Open Networking Summit 2014 that can assist in enabling advanced network automation, policy, compliance and security functions throughout a software-defined network. The new feature enables deep packet inspection (DPI) and flow management based on higher layers (L4-L7) of the OSI protocol stack, for example specific content in the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) payload.
This functionality will be demonstrated with the NoviSwitch 1248, which provides the industry’s broadest support of the OpenFlow 1.3 specification, including support for all OpenFlow 1.3 actions, instructions and match fields, multiple tables per pipeline, group handling, multiple OpenFlow controllers for use in high availability scenarios and more. NoviFlow’s NoviSwitch 1248 offers a unique combination of up to 200 Gbps of OpenFlow 1.3 throughput and support for up to 1 million simultaneous flows in a 1U format, thus delivering the capacity and performance needed by intensive, leading-edge applications.
According to Dominique Jodoin, president and chief executive officer of NoviFlow: “High performance L4-L7-based DPI and flow management radically change how the application and control layers interact with data carried by the transport layer, truly unleashing the potential of software-defined networking (SDN). Combining this enhanced DPI technology with our unique high-performance OpenFlow-based switches and our pioneering work with market leading OpenFlow controller and application innovators, such as NEC and Citylink, now turns the promise of SDN into a reality.”
NoviFlow’s OpenFlow switches, including the NoviSwitch 1248 and NoviSwitch 1132 running the NoviWare 250 switching software, provide support for all OpenFlow 1.3 actions, instructions and matching fields, multiple tables per pipeline, group handling, Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB), and more. NoviWare 250 also includes support for the OpenFlow Experimenter Feature, which NoviFlow uses to enable L2-L7 based flow processing within the OpenFlow specification. NoviWare 250 also supports multiple OpenFlow controllers for use in high availability scenarios.
Jodoin adds: “NoviFlow is very pleased that our network processor-based switches are becoming key elements in the deployment of scalable, robust and high-demand SDN, Cloud and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions.”
