The typical service business has thousands of customers whose properties they service throughout the year. In order to maximize their efficiency, it’s important that they be able to see customers and techs on a map so they can minimize drive times and maximize the number of appointments in a day.
For HindSite Software customers, that mapping function has traditionally been accomplished thanks to an integration with Microsoft’s MapPoint product. Customers would purchase MapPoint, and use that mapping and routing functionality within HindSite. It’s a great solution, but it could be costly, as each desktop user would be required to purchase a copy of MapPoint and periodically update it.
But not anymore. HindSite Software, the premier provider of field service software for the green industry, recently announced a new Google Maps integration that enables field service businesses to see their customers on a map, as well as visualize where all their technicians or crews would be on a specific day. Even better, the integration is free.
“Our goal is to enable field service businesses to cost-effectively manage their entire business using HindSite,“ explains HindSite’s President and Founder, David Crary. “Our integration with Google Maps delivers similar functionality to our MapPoint users, but without the cost.”
There are some feature differences. MapPoint users can not only map a tech’s day, but they can also efficiently route that day. The Google Maps integration doesn’t offer routing capability at this point.
“There’s still a place for MapPoint,” explained Crary. “If you want the expanded functionality that MapPoint offers, businesses can take advantage of the MapPoint integration. But for users who just want basic mapping functionality, the free Google Maps integration is an excellent solution.”
Current HindSite users can take advantage of the new Google Maps integration today without any additional software or setup.
