Shimmin has served as Research Director of this practice since March of 2013 for the company. While in the role of Research Director, Shimmin launched the company’s new Enterprise Data and Analytics segment, where he will continue to lead analytical coverage.

Prior to joining Current Analysis, Shimmin served as a project manager and business analyst, managing the deployment of several infrastructure projects at CMP Technology (United Business Media). While there, he helped to establish a centralized audience database capable of tracking reader profiles and behavior, brought numerous collaboration tools (e.g., blogs, forums, etc.) to numerous magazine brands and worked to establish multi-publication news aggregation services. Prior to his work at CMP, Shimmin served in various editorial positions at Network Computing Magazine, BugNet (a division of KeyLabs), LAN Times Magazine, and Osborne McGraw-Hill, and is the author of several books on networking, e-mail, and operating systems.
