Minneapolis-based Cyrus Artisan Rugs, long a leading rug retailer in the Midwest, has just announced an exclusive deal with Tamarian Carpets, one of the world’s premier wholesalers of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs out of Nepal. According to Alex Farahan, co-owner and managing director of Cyrus Rugs, Tamarian has supplied Cyrus with dozens of new designs in contemporary area rugs. “We are very proud to be the exclusive retailer for these incredible works of art,” says Mr. Farahan. “Many of them can be seen in person at our Minneapolis showroom, and dozens more can be viewed and purchased on our new online store.”
Tamarian specializes in modern designs, which are created by some of the world’s top designers, then communicated to master weavers via a computerized rug mapping system. Their Nepali weavers follow the rug map, using the Tibetan loop Sennah knot, and every rug is meticulously constructed by hand, knot-by-knot. Tamarian uses exclusive chrome-based dyes that are produced in small batches and hand-spun Tibetan high mountain wool, as well as premium quality silk. Tamarian is widely acknowledged as a world leader in luxury handmade designer carpets.
Over the last few years, Cyrus Artisan Rugs has emerged as the largest retailer of handmade rugs in the Midwest, with their Minneapolis showroom maintaining an inventory of about 3,000 rugs on a consistent basis. With the launch of their online rug store, Cyrus can now lay claim to being the largest online rug store as well.
