ASQ Board Appoints Next CEO, Cites Strong Leadership and Global Experience
Milwaukee, Wis. (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- The ASQ board of directors recently appointed William Troy as next CEO of the society, citing his passion for quality, strong diplomatic and global relationship management skills, and outstanding leadership credentials.
Troy is expected to begin his new role at the ASQ world headquarters on April 21.
“After a complete and exhaustive search, ASQ is indeed fortunate to have Bill join us on our global mission,” said ASQ Chair Stephen Hacker. “As an accomplished leader, Bill brings the skills and practical knowledge we need at this time in our journey.”
ASQ, the leading authority on quality in all fields, organizations and industries, is “The Global Voice of Quality,” with members in 150 countries. ASQ operates national service centers in Mexico, India and China; and a regional service center, which opened in 2013, serves the Middle East and North Africa. Also in 2013, ASQ began a joint venture in Brazil, QUALI, focused on training and certification.
Troy recently retired from the U.S. Army as lieutenant general. His most recent post was director of Army staff at the Pentagon, with oversight of 20,000 military and civilians, and the Army’s Test and Evaluation Command, among other duties. Troy also served in 2001 as a senior fellow at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
Troy’s vast experience has provided him extensive time working globally in a variety of settings, interacting with military, government and business leaders.
Troy is expected to bring to ASQ experience of developing and executing creative and effective strategy, and leveraging relationships around the world, Hacker said. Troy possesses a keenly honed strategic mind, a lifetime of global engagement and leadership traits of the very best.
“My background in leadership and strategy has prepared me well for this challenge in taking ASQ to the next level,” Troy said. “I follow in the footsteps of a leader of enormous insight, influence and integrity — Paul Borawski — and my fervent wish is to build on the foundation he, the ASQ staff and member leaders the world over have built. With that foundation, we will build the global ASQ presence and contribute to solving problems and improving processes and lives throughout the world.”
Borawski plans to retire in May after 27 years with ASQ, most recently as CEO, and also serving as executive director and chief strategy officer. He is credited with leading the organization’s expansive global growth and unrivaled position in quality management training and certification, and the diversification of its approach to membership for individuals and organizations.
