Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Learn How to Play the Riff from "Key to Love" by Eric Clapton & John Mayall - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) March 02, 2014 -- A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
“Today we are continuing our study of Eric Clapton, this is a blues in the key of E,” says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates the lick as follows; first he uses his 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 4th string which he plays once and follows that by doing a hammer-on from the open string to the 2nd fret. Next he plays the open 3rd string twice and follows that with the 2nd fret of the 3rd string with his 2nd finger and bends that note up one half step and releases the bend to the open string. Then he goes back to the 4th string to play the 2nd fret and then the open string and then back to the 2nd fret. Then to finish off the lick he plays the 4th string 2nd fret followed by the open 4th string and then the 2nd fret of the 5th string and follows that with the open first string.
