Run in the 3rd Annual Leprechaun Leap 5K Race through the Hangar at Tustin Legacy and broadcast Live by Jack FM 93.1.
Tustin, CA (PRWEB) March 04, 2014 -- On Sunday, March 16, 2014, the Tustin Chamber of Commerce will hold its 3rd Annual Leprechaun Leap 5K Race. The first two years of the holiday race celebrating St. Patrick’s Day have been quite successful with participation approaching nearly 1,000 runners. This year’s event, however, hopes to be something particularly memorable, and that’s because the race is scheduled to run through the South Hangar at the Legacy at Tustin Ranch Road and Warner Avenue. With one month before the race, the number of registrations is over 500 -- four times as many by this same time last year.
The 5K race course will start at the District’s Costco location, travel north up Tustin Ranch Road, do a u-turn just south of the new bridge over Edinger and then go directly to the South Hangar. The Hangar’s mammoth doors will greet runners to a four tenth’s mile loop inside the behemoth structure where a celebration of inspirational music will play. Runners will be videotaped and photographed during their route so that they can have a permanent photo memory of the run which may never again be repeated at the site. Also, Jack FM (KCBS FM 93.1) will be broadcasting live from the event.
The Tustin Hangars have long been an historic location within Tustin and Orange County. Built in 1942, over 1,000 feet long, 300 feet wide and 17 stories high, the Hangars are two of the largest wooden structures in the world. The Hangars were built towards the end of World War II to house blimps, helicopters and other military equipment.
Today, as the City moves to resurrect the Hangars and grant them the visibility and recognition within the community as historic sites, the Tustin Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the first (and possibly only) major public event within their confines.
The race will also feature a costume contest, be open to pets and strollers and include a staggered start set up so that children, pets and strollers can have more room and comfort during their race. A portion of our proceeds will go to benefit the Tustin Community Foundation, the Chamber’s designated philanthropy.
This could be your only chance to see the inside of the Hangar! So come join us on Sunday, March 16 for an event that is certain to be an unforgettable one. Visit http://www.leprechaunleap.org to register or call the Chamber offices at (714) 544-5341 for more information.
