International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world to mark the power and persistence of women to have a voice. 30Voices is committed to that empowerment and each year gathers artists to celebrate the diverse voices of women! Featuring 30 artists, this year’s event will highlight the art and message of painters, sculpturists, performers, singer/songwriters, journalists, writers and even an activist – all Iranian.
30Voices was founded by an Iranian woman who suffered through an abusive marriage and battled with breast cancer. She struggled through a time of personal healing. On her road to recovering and gaining a voice through art, she founded 30Voices – a nonprofit organization with a mission to give voice to countless other women who are silenced by domestic violence.
Every year on March 8th, 30Voices hosts an event to mark International Women’s Day. This year, we have taken to the world wide web. Video interviews discussing our call of this year's theme “ Yar e Mehraban” Kind sweetheart , with artists will be online for public viewing, along with films, images of paintings, Porcelin handemade dolls and bronz sculptures. All the artists interviewed are from the Los Angeles area, as well as many artists from as far away as Iran!
