EclectionMedia Presents Scout & Maggie, a New Buddy Comedy Web Series
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- EclectionMedia today announced the release of its brand new web series, Scout & Maggie. Set in New York, it portrays two women in their thirties humorously navigating adulthood and friendships.
Scout & Maggie was developed by an all-female production and creative team and stars Jessica Vera as Scout and Amy Johnson as Maggie. Both Vera and Johnson created, wrote and co-produced the show. They were inspired by a New York Magazine article about Roseanne Barr and her struggles to produce her own show, as well as Louis C.K., and the creative freedom they were able to fight for and achieve.
"It’s really exciting to create and produce a new series in a time when shows like Broad City and The Mindy Project are making their way," said Amy Johnson.
Scout & Maggie also utilizes a cast from diverse ethnic and entertainment backgrounds, "My goal was to create a script for a diverse cast without calling attention to the diversity," says Vera, "These are the types of people you work with on a daily basis and their ethnicity isn’t the story. On top of that, our cast comes from a theatre and improv background and that is definitely on display in the episodes."
EclectionMedia’s Stephanie Dawson produced and directed the opening pilot season. It was created on a self-described, "maiden voyage" budget. "The shoot was challenging, as low budget projects usually are, but ours was an intimate and supportive production, which made it a very fun set."
"It was great to be a part of a female buddy comedy," Dawson continues, "It was even more special to me that Scout & Maggie had an all-female production team. I’m looking forward to seeing this series launch into the world."
