Duchy Originals Showcases Recently USDA Organic Certified Treats at Natural Products Expo West
Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) March 05, 2014 -- Duchy Originals was one of the very first organic food brands in Europe and has announced its new USDA organic certification for its elegant line of shortbread and biscuits just in time for Natural Products Expo West. The show takes place on March 7-9, 2014 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA. Displaying at booth #3982, Duchy Originals will be exhibiting with Walkers Shortbread, the family-owned Scottish company that bakes the brand’s shortbread and biscuits. Visitors to Duchy’s booth will also have the unique opportunity to taste Duchy’s classic Oaten Biscuit paired with Kingdom Cheese cheddar, which is made using the same organic milk that is used to produce the butter in Duchy’s shortbread and biscuits.
The Duchy Originals brand was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1990 to promote organic food and farming and to help protect and sustain the countryside and wildlife. Through Duchy Originals, The Prince believed he could create a "virtuous circle”: produce food of the highest quality, work in harmony with the environment and nature, use the best ingredients and add value through expert production.
“The Duchy brand has always been committed to sustainably producing natural, GMO-free products, and we are pleased to now be USDA organic certified,” said President of Walkers Shortbread, Inc., Steve Dawson. “We strive to produce delicious shortbread and biscuits using the finest ingredients, and we are happy to offer our U.S. consumers a product that is now certified organic.”
The full Duchy Originals line comprises three elegant shortbreads and the classic Oaten Biscuit. The Oaten Biscuit was the very first product created for HRH The Prince of Wales over two decades ago, and has a thin, crisp texture and a unique balance of sweet and savory flavors.
The Highland All-Butter Shortbread has a sumptuous melt-in-the-mouth texture, and is baked following a simple traditional recipe, using churned English butter, quality sugar and wheat flour, including flour from wheat grown on Duchy Home Farm at HRH The Prince of Wales’s Highgrove Estate. The Lemon All Butter Shortbread adds a refreshing zest, using lemon peel from Sicily, while the Stem Ginger All Butter Shortbread has a delicately balanced spicy sweetness using chunks of crystallized Australian stem ginger.
Adhering to the Duchy Originals’ Good Food Charter that promises that every product “Is Good,” “Does Good” and “Tastes Good,” and as the USDA organic standards dictate, all ingredients include no GMOs, antibiotics or bovine growth hormones. Duchy Originals are also vegetarian-friendly, and are produced using traditional farming methods. Furthermore, a donation from the sale of Duchy Originals supports a number of worthwhile causes through The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.
