Commonly known as a form of Chinese medicine, acupuncture is performed by licensed medical professionals. It involves sticking tiny needles into a patient's body to release imbalances that are occurring in the body as a result of an illness or stress. It has been used as form of therapy for thousands of years. "Leading Edge" is preparing the production of a segment featuring acupuncture.

Thousands of people turn to acupuncture treatment each year for a wide variety of issues. Some of the more common issues treated by acupuncture include:

  • Headaches
  • Meniere's disease
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Cardiovascular disorders
  • Common cold
  • Asthma
  • Influenza
  • Poor circulation

It should be noted that a person should only acquire acupuncture services from a licensed medical professional. This is not a form of therapy that should be carried out at home.

The "Leading Edge," hosted by Jimmy Johnson, would like to announce it will be doing a segment on acupuncture. Tune in and learn about this much-loved form of therapy, including the different types and its benefits.

The series will not be distributed through PBS; however, it will be released to several Public Television stations in the US. For more information, please visit the Leading Edge website.
