Carven has selected Centric Software, Inc., for its product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
Carven will use the Centric 8 PLM software for retail, apparel, footwear, luxury and consumer goods to support growth and align the organization, according to Claude Sztykman, production and purchasing director with Carven. “Importantly, the Centric PLM software will allow Carven to accomplish these goals without losing creativity in the design and development process, which is so critical for the company.”
Since the re-launch of Carven in 2009, the company has experienced rapid growth, explains Sztykman. “Centric 8 was the only solution on the market with the flexibility to accommodate the rapidly changing needs of our business. It will provide us with the flexibility to add new staff, product categories and suppliers as our business continues to expand.”
The Centric 8 PLM solution will replace extensive use of spreadsheets at Carven, and allow the company to rely on “one version of the truth about products,” says Sztykman. The company will realize increased efficiency through the reduction of lower-value, administrative tasks and data entry. Improved accuracy will reduce the number of iterations for samples and prototypes, and new product development will become faster, he explains. “The Centric 8 software also will enable Carven to reduce overall product costs, and understand the profitability of different product options at any given moment.”
“Carven selected Centric because it is easy to learn and use,” says Sztykman. “Centric 8 has the ability to support the continuous changes that occur during product design and development processes of a rapidly growing business.” As part of its investment, Carven chose three of the mobile apps available for Centric 8. “Centric’s innovative PLM solution and mobile apps, excellent references and the expertise of the team convinced us that Centric was the right choice for Carven.”
“The opportunity to partner with Carven on PLM, a major initiative for the esteemed brand, is rewarding,” says Chris Groves, president and CEO of Centric. “We are confident that Carven will realize signficant improvement in the efficiency of its product development process while allowing the critical creative process to flourish. Centric’s innovative product applications and Agile Deployment(SM) provide the flexibility and ease of use that Carven values.”
Since the beginning, the Carven house has had a democratic and Parisian view of fashion design. Madame Carmen de Tommaso broke through the austere world of haute couture as an innovator in the 1940s with a spontaneous and fresh style, adapted to the women’s everyday life at that time. In 2009, Carven opened a new chapter in its history. Guillaume Henry and Carven have kept the company’s couture heritage that lives on through a spirit of perfect design and choice materials. Today, the house offers ready-to-wear that is both inspired and accessible. The company’s revenues in 2013 were €30 million.
