Students hail cab savings in Birmingham and Liverpool
(PRWEB UK) 6 March 2014 -- ComCab, the UKs leading taxi service, has partnered with the student taxi app JumpIn in Birmingham and Liverpool. JumpIn, an app that allows students to book and share taxis, will use the ComCab radio circuits to fulfill trip requests in both locations - with a view to rolling out nationwide.
JumpIn is already operating in Leeds, Nottingham and Newcastle, where it has partnered with private hire vehicle suppliers. The venture into Birmingham and Liverpool will be the startup’s first partnership with hackney carriage vehicles.
The JumpIn app, available on iOS and Android, was founded by three students from the University of Leeds who saw the need for taxi sharing app after taking two separate taxis to the same bar in Leeds. The app has since evolved into a booking and sharing solution, tailored specifically for students with features such as group bookings, closed community sharing, fixed fares and nightclub partnerships.
Co-founder of JumpIn, Sam Ryan, is excited by the prospect of working with ComCab, “It’s fantastic that such a well-respected business in the industry is willing to work with us. ComCab share our passion for transport sharing and will be fundamental to our expansion plans.”
Malcolm Paice, COO for CityFleet, which owns the ComCab businesses across the UK added: “This is the first time ComCab has lent it’s support to a third party application in this way, but we are so impressed with the JumpIn solution and the expertise of the young team involved we could not be happier to partner up with JumpIn in both Birmingham and Liverpool. ComCab is well known to the students in both cities and the JumpIn app is a remarkably well put together and popular service, so this is a partnership that will really benefit the students looking to save money by sharing a cab.”
CityFleet operates ground transport services, including ComCab taxis, in London, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, as well as Birmingham & Liverpool and is part of the global ComfortDelGro group.
The JumpIn app is available to download free from the Apple App store for iOS devices and from Google Play for Android users.
