The Grommet Announces Eight Finalists for 2nd Annual Product Pitch at Fenway Park
Somerville, MA (PRWEB) March 04, 2014 -- The Grommet has announced the eight finalists invited to participate in its 2nd Annual Product Pitch Competition on Thursday, March 20th at historic Fenway Park in Boston. The chosen makers will pitch their “hacks” or “problem solvers” to expert panels of tech, design and business leaders from companies such as Indiegogo, TechStars and the Boston Design Museum. The winners will receive the chance to bring their unique consumer products to market via The Grommet’s expert product launch team.
The winners of last year’s event, THINX performance underwear, went on to complete a successful Indiegogo campaign and had a strong launch on The Grommet this past January.
“Our business has seen so many benefits since winning last year’s event that we feel strongly indebted to The Grommet for all of the help they’ve given us while we brought THINX to market. We are honored and grateful to give back at this year’s competition,” says Antonia Dunbar, Co-CEO of THINX.
The finalists, which were chosen by The Grommet’s community, fall into two categories: ‘ready for crowdfunding’ meaning they are ready to raise capital via Indiegogo, and ‘ready for market’ meaning their product is ready to be sold to consumers. The eight finalists are:
Ready for Market:
Repel Gear Active: Kid-proofs your car to protect seats from everyday messes.
Juneberry Bags: Chic, interchangeable totes can be worn three ways: Backpack, shoulder bag and crossbody.

This competition furthers The Grommet’s mission as the online marketplace and product launch platform for innovative and undiscovered products. The Grommet is able to gain access to the newest, most innovative products and be the first to give them the audience and amplification needed for success. Co-Founders, Jules Pieri and Joanne Domeniconi, are excited to return to Fenway Park this year and meet the newest group of entrepreneurs with inventive products.
"Our finalists will present the judges with a difficult decision. The pitches are innovative and disruptive and the entrepreneurs behind the ideas are a great group. We can't wait to meet them in person on March 20th," says Joanne Domeniconi.
