Startupland Documentary Web Series Will Host Global Premiere in Washington, DC

VIPs and Top-CEOs will attend the highly-anticipated premiere at E Street Theater on March 13th.

No matter what part of the world you live in, from Detroit to Cape Town, Startupland will be able to touch, teach and inspire individuals to follow their entrepreneurial dreams.

DC-based Startupland is thrilled to announce the global premiere of its documentary web series by the same name, which will be shown at the E Street Landmark Theatre on Thursday, March 13th in Washington, DC. Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and Chairman and CEO of Revolution will be speaking at the premiere along with the Director, Producers, and the startup founders featured in the series. The 6pm showing is already sold out and tickets have been added for a second showing at 8:30 p.m., which is open to the public.

Through Startupland, Director Justin Gutwein set out to tell the stories of five founders as they experience triumphs and struggles during their journey and present it in a way that would teach fellow entrepreneurs how to start and succeed in launching their own business.

“I had not seen anyone capture the authentic stories of startups experiencing an accelerator and I thought that someone had to share their compelling journey,” said Gutwein. “So much learning takes place over the web and through video and it’s proven that we all learn best through storytelling. We felt it was the right timing and the right platform for audiences to watch entrepreneurs in their early-stage startups,” added Gutwein.

The mission of Startupland is what Co-Producer Jonathon Perrelli is most passionate about. “We set out on a mission with Startupland to create an authentic series depicting the journey of startups within an accelerator with expert advice intertwined, serving to educate and inspire entrepreneurs and innovators globally,” said Perrelli. “No matter what part of the world you live in, from Detroit to Cape Town, Startupland will be able to touch, teach and inspire individuals to follow their entrepreneurial dreams.”

The Startupland movement is already spreading. Viewers have already pre-purchased the web series in more than 22 countries and over 500 audience members will view the first two episodes at the premiere on March 13th. Startupland has added 10 cities to its U.S. tour and is planning a national university tour as well as an international tour scheduled all within the year.

The Startupland team projects that this cutting-edge documentary series will be seen by tens of thousands of viewers within the year. The digital platform provided by VHX makes Startupland available to millions world-wide as a web series, and there are plans to add national/global meet-ups and downloadable, supporting curriculum for educators on entrepreneurship within the year.
A Pixar animator joined the team to create animated graphics of topics such as fundraising, equity splits, the growth of the startup movement, expansion of accelerators, and much more, to aid in the learning and entertainment for the Startupland audience. “We know that our audience is going to be founders, potential founders, the friends and family members that support entrepreneurs, educators, economic development professionals, and anyone interested in entrepreneurship of any kind,” said Perrelli. “We aimed to create a platform that was honest and highly useful for all individuals within the entrepreneurial community.”
