Renovaré Says "You Don't Have to be Catholic to Celebrate Lent"
Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 05, 2014 -- The season of Lent has arrived, and Renovaré is eager to remind everyone that "You don't have to be Catholic to celebrate Lent!" Starting today Christians from multiple denominations and traditions are preparing their hearts for Easter, when they will celebrate the resurrection of their Lord Jesus Christ. Renovaré created Engage to be a wonderful resource for Lent 2014.
This year Renovaré is releasing Engage: A Lenten Guide for Spiritual Growth by Pastor Kai Nilsen. This devotional is designed to take believers through all of Lent, helping them to understand its purpose and benefit. This is especially useful since Lent is not commonly observed amongst evangelicals in America.
"Many Evangelicals are a bit unfamiliar with Lent," says Renovaré’s Executive Director Rachel Quan. "They tend to think of it as a Catholic practice, if they know of it at all. The truth is, though, that this season of the Church's calendar really helps point us toward Jesus as we prepare for Easter, no matter your denomination or tradition. Kai Nilsen's book can serve as a guide for those who do not know what to do during Lent."
Nilsen's approach in writing Engage is not to focus on what believers are supposed to "give up" for Lent, which is a common practice for those who observe it. Instead, Pastor Nilsen focuses on how the traditional spiritual disciplines of the Church can fill a Christian's life and free him or her up to experience the with-God life in richer ways. Each week the devotional will focus on disciplines that encourage believers to be active during Lent. Submission, worship, study, service, celebration, and community will each be featured, demonstrating how the reader can engage with God and with others over the next few weeks.
