Banter Launches First Anonymous Social Network to Connect People Through Interests and Location
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- Banter, the world’s first anonymous social chat network that connects interesting people to great conversations, launched today with mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. Banter is the best way to chat anonymously, with no private information required to register. The apps are free for download at http://banter.me.
With Banter, users can join chat rooms where they can be themselves and chat with others who share similar interests and topics. While in the app, Banter makes it easy to follow multiple chats at once or one at a time, create public or private chat rooms, or even find people nearby to chat.
“If you look at the chat since the early days of the Web, it has been one of the few constants that is underwriting the role of the Internet, fostering dialogue and the open exchange of ideas in modern society,” says Andrew Busey, CEO and co-founder of Banter. “Mobile messaging apps today don’t serve that purpose, and they are not true chat experiences. It’s important that you can be whoever you want in chat. There is a huge need and opportunity around chat, and we believe Banter offers the best mobile chat experience.”
Upon launching the app, users will see a stream that organizes chats chronologically as they appear from the chats rooms they follow, similar to Facebook and Twitter. If a user doesn’t yet follow any rooms, Banter will prompt them to join some chats that they might enjoy.
Banter also streamlines discovery of interesting chats, making it fun and easy to explore new rooms. Users can simply tap on the room they are currently in, and a module will appear that allows them to change channels, and jump to the next room or browse similar topics. Users can also receive private messages, and easily manage who can chat with them.
Key Banter features:
- Select from a wide variety of topics
- Create your own public and private chatrooms
- Send private messages
- Share your location to find others nearby
- View all your chats in a single stream
- Add full screen photos
- Easily manage your user profile
“Anonymity is at the heart of our application, but we strongly believe that you can and should build relationships in anonymous environments — in fact, it’s the only place where you can do so freely,” says Tony Chen, COO and co-founder. “Since 2004 certain Social Networks have convinced us that everything we do online should be shared publicly, but the Web used to be a place to share your thoughts freely and openly. The fact that it was essentially anonymous made the connection even more authentic. Banter brings back the authenticity of those chats.”
Banter makes chatting fun and easy, and focuses on connecting users so that great conversations happen. Banter is currently available for iOS and Android, and can be downloaded now through the iTunes app store and Google Play.
