Kobo Launches eReading App Designed for Windows 8 Notebooks, Tablets and Desktops
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- Kobo, a global leader in eReading, today announced the launch of their app designed specifically for Microsoft notebooks, tablets and desktops running the new Windows platform including devices by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and the Microsoft Surface. The Kobo for Windows app enables Readers to access all the features they love on their Kobo device right on their Windows notebook, tablet or desktop, including the ability to carry, browse and shop for their favourite titles in the Kobo eBookstore.
“We are excited to give our Readers access to their Kobo eBooks on the Microsoft Windows ecosystem. Just like Kobo, Microsoft understands the importance of providing users with greater mobility and new ways to enjoy their favourite content. The Kobo for Windows app is designed to make Kobo content come alive on Windows devices,” said Sameer Hasan, Director of Reading and Mobile Platforms, Kobo.
Similar to Kobo eReaders and tablets, the Kobo for Windows app allows users to bookmark pages and pick up right where they stopped reading. The app syncs all bookmarks so readers never lose their place, even if they switch devices. Readers can also customize their font style and size, which appears as crisp and clear as it does on Kobo eReaders and tablets.
Reading in the dark is not a problem with the “night mode” feature that gives Readers a softer light for easier nighttime reading. Readers can also lock the screen in portrait or landscape mode to ensure they never lose their place, even while on the go.
The app offers access to more than 4 million titles in the Kobo eBookstore, including best-sellers, new releases, comics and children’s books. Windows users will be able to find their next great read with ease and enjoy chapter previews for thousands of select titles and be able to save previews directly in their library.
EXCLUSIVE TO THE KOBO FOR WINDOWS APP
Not only will Readers have access to the best content, they will be able to pin their favourite books as a live tile. Exclusive to Windows 8, Readers can pin books to the Start screen and create tiles to access their favourite reads even more quickly and easily. Just like other tiles, users are able to resize them or even group them in a way that they prefer for a completely customized look.
“Microsoft is committed to providing our consumers with an outstanding experience across all of our Windows devices, whether it is for work or for play,” said Henrik Gutle, Director of Windows and Surface Business Group, Microsoft Canada “With a growing offering of apps, such as the new Kobo for Windows eReading app, we are giving consumers new ways to use their device to do whatever it is they love. This app is a great addition to the Windows marketplace.”
The Kobo eReading app for Microsoft Windows is now available in the Windows Store and the first customers in the United States and Canada that download the new Kobo for Windows app will automatically receive Robert Ludlum's ™ “The Janson Command” by Paul Garrison and a preview of the upcoming Robert Ludlum's ™ “The Janson Option” in their app while supplies last.
KOBO EREADING APP FOR WINDOWS PHONE
This spring Kobo will introduce the Kobo eReading app for Windows Phone to its line up of top ranked applications. The Windows Phone experience will operate with the same functions as the Windows App for notebooks, tablets and desktops, offering the best content and experience to its readers.
