Gilbane Building Company was awarded with the prestigious Fox Valley AGC Project of the Year award in the Construction Management category for its Center for Care and Discovery project at The University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago. The project, a joint venture team of with W.E. O’Neil, provided construction management services for the 11-story, 1.2 million square foot facility – one of the largest buildings on the University of Chicago’s campus. Features of the building includes 240 private inpatient rooms, 28 operating rooms, 176 medical/surgical and ICU beds, 128 recovery rooms, interventional and neurointerventional radiology, seven advanced imaging suites, procedure rooms, training facilities, clinical and support offices, sterile processing, and pharmacy.
The award is presented to a project team who has made a significant contribution to the successful completion of a challenging project and continued commitment to client service and innovation through professional construction management. Additionally, Gilbane was presented with a safety award in the category of projects achieving 50,000 to 250,000 manhours for their dedication to safety excellence as a company.

The FVAGC Awards ceremony was held at the Acquaviva Winery in Maple Park, IL on February 11th.
