Announcement: BluesGuitar.com releases “Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Riff - Blues Guitar Lesson with Tabs”
(PRWEB) March 08, 2014 -- A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
“I want to teach you a little bit of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads today, this is such a monumental guitar piece”, says MacLennan, “one of the elements of this song I want to emphasize is call and response, it’s a typical thing you hear a lot in the blues”. Jon demonstrates this as follows; first he plays two bars of rhythm as a typical blues shuffle in A. Next he follows that with the lead riff which starts off with the open 5th string followed by the 2nd fret of the 3rd string with his first finger and then he does a pull-off to the open 3rd string and back to the 2nd fret and then a quick hammer-on from the open 3rd string to the 2nd fret. The riff ends on a C on the 3rd fret of the 5th string with his 3rd finger and he does a slight bend and then the whole process starts over again. He continues this process with a shuffle based in D and completes a 12 bar in the key of A. Guitar TAB’s are available at BluesGuitar.com.
Eric Clapton is an English guitarist, singer and song writer born in Ripley, Surrey England in 1945.
