UConn Dept. of Public Policy Partners with The Pert Group to Fuel Hartford Workforce Development
Hartford, CT (PRWEB) March 10, 2014 -- The University of Connecticut’s Department of Public Policy has partnered with local research-based consulting agency, The Pert Group, to launch a new workforce development program in the Hartford region. The new partnership brings a customized and consolidated version of UConn’s Graduate Program in Survey Research to employees at The Pert Group to advance their knowledge and aptitude in the field of survey research.
“The Department of Public Policy at UConn is committed to helping the local economy. By partnering with local businesses to drive training and development, the university is fueling workforce development in the Hartford region and driving quality and integrity within the research field,” said Jennifer Dineen, Program Director, Graduate Program in Survey Research, Department of Public Policy at the University of Connecticut. “We’ve had a successful graduate-level survey research program for a number of years and this is a logical next step for the school, The Pert Group, and the greater Hartford area.”
Currently, the University of Connecticut is the only school in the state offering a Master’s in Survey Research and one of only a handful of universities in the country to offer such a program. The Pert Group is thrilled to be able to offer such a relevant, high quality training and development program to its employees, advancing their skills within the survey research field.
“This training program demonstrates our commitment to creating a foundation for excellence benefiting both our clients and our employees,” said Doug Guion, President, The Pert Group. “I am confident that this exciting program, which we expect will be the first of many in the Hartford area, will help us build the premiere team in the research consulting industry and will help fuel our organization’s growth.”
The new training program will run over the course of six weeks and educate fifteen of The Pert Group’s junior staff members. It will blend in-person work groups, one-on-one instruction, online tutorials, and independent work time. “This is truly a master’s level course,” said Chris Barnes, Senior Vice President of Client Strategy, The Pert Group. “It provides a great professional development opportunity for our team and is an investment in the long-term growth of our business.”
The Graduate Program in Survey Research at UConn’s Department of Public Policy hopes to form similar partnerships with other area businesses to continue advancing the education of the Hartford-area workforce in the field of survey research.
