The Caliber Biotherapeutics’ manufacturing facility in Bryan, Texas received the 2014 Pharmaceutical Processing Facility Excellence Award. Caliber Biotherapeutics represents a facility and production outlook, which will have a substantial impact in bioproductions of the future. To address the need for rapid responses of large vaccine requirements and to gain a more robust, fast and cost-effective expression system for monoclonal antibodies, Caliber Biotherapeutics employs a plant expression system that relies in part on the ability to grow 2.2 million plants in a multi-level hydroponic configuration. In addition, to be able to fully utilize the facility as a multi-product site, the entire downstream process is integrated in autonomous cleanroom PODs, developed, designed and commissioned by G-CON Manufacturing, LLC. This commitment to new and innovative drug development and production strategies has led to Pharmaceutical Processing’s awarding Caliber a Facility Excellence Award for 2014.
