Quilters and quilt lovers are certain to feel like a kid on Christmas morning.

Honoring the tradition and beauty of quilting and quilters is the perfect way to celebrate National Quilting Day.

On March 15, 2014 the quilting gurus at AccuQuilt will be celebrating National Quilting Day in spectacular fashion. They consider this to be the most wonderful time of the year and feel National Quilting Day is the perfect way to recognize the art form of quilts.

AccuQuilt will sponsor the events at the International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln. Everyone is welcome to join in this free event for a day of learning and fun, from 9am to 3pm.

Events include lectures from 10am to 2:30pm in the seminar room on the first floor. The second floor will feature Studio Art Quilt Associates and their beautiful display of 12-inch square art quilts. This provides the perfect opportunity to chat with members and learn more about this intricate art form.

One of the most special and unique features will be “Go Tell It at the Quilt Museum,” a personal account of quilts. Quilters, quilt lovers, and collectors will record 3-minute videos recounting the stories and compelling details of their quilt. If you’re a quilter or textile lover, this is not to be missed.

Exhibitions will be open to the public and the main gallery will feature several fascinating and informative exhibits. The quilting pros from AccuQuilt will be on hand, along with Aurifil and Handi Quilter, to provide demonstrations and allow first-hand sampling of the latest machines and gadgets.

“We are so pleased to be involved with the International Quilt Study Center for this incredible event,” said Steve Nabity, AccuQuilt’s Chief Energizing Officer. “Honoring the tradition and beauty of quilting and quilters is the perfect way to celebrate National Quilting Day. It’s our hope that everyone can enjoy the day as much as we do.”

AccuQuilt will also host the Omaha Modern Quilt Guild at their office for their monthly meeting. Known as “Quilting’s First Lady,” the highly-anticipated Eleanor Burns Exhibit will certainly be enjoyed, and there’s no doubt the fabric cutters will come out for some playtime. While this event is not open to the public, everyone is invited to enjoy the gallery from 10am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
