Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) March 08, 2014
Shane Victorino, outfielder with the 2013 World Series champion Boston Red Sox, has partnered with Fame4Good.com a new digital fundraising platform that supports the charitable efforts of professional athletes, to send a lucky fan to Spring Training as Shane Victorino’s guest. The campaign will raise money and awareness for the Shane Victorino Foundation, which benefits underprivileged children.
Fans donating as little as $1 at fame4good.com are automatically entered to have a VIP experience with Shane. The lucky winner and their guest will receive round trip tickets for two to Ft. Myers, Fla, a two night stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Ft. Myers, and meet Shane on the field at jetBlue Park to play catch with the three-time Gold Glove winner, talk tips on how to steal bases, and spend time in the dugout. After the meeting, the winner and guest will continue their VIP experience, as guests of Shane at jetBlue Park to enjoy the Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays game on Sunday, March 23, 2014.
The contest is currently live at fame4good.com/campaign/shane_victorino and will run through March 17, 2014. The winner will be chosen at random and notified shortly thereafter. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Ft. Myers, Fla is the official host hotel and sponsor of the campaign.
“Partnering with Fame4Good allows me to shine a light on our foundation’s incredible efforts to support kids in need and it does so in a way that fans can have fun with and really get engaged,” says Victorino. “I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the communities that have given so much to me and I look forward to meeting the lucky winner.”
Fame4Good has revolutionized the traditional fundraising model, using the Web, social media and contests to give fans the chance to have the experience of a lifetime – all while supporting worthy charities. Fame4Good’s crowd-funding model allows celebrity athletes to engage with their fans in a way that also brings attention to their important causes.
About The Shane Victorino Foundation
The Shane Victorino Foundation (http://www.shanevictorinofoundation.org) was founded in February 2010 by Shane and Melissa Victorino and is dedicated to promoting opportunities for underserved youth. The Foundation engages in projects that provide children in need with educational, recreational and wellness programs across the country including an annual toy drive for children facing poverty in Las Vegas, an after school program for at-risk youth in Shane’s native Hawaii, and the Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys & Girls Club in Philadelphia. In Boston, the Foundation hosts the Flyin’ Hawaiian All-Stars charity ticket program, which treats local children’s groups to an unforgettable day at the ballpark.
Founded by former Major League Baseball team executive, Louie Ruvane, in 2012, Fame4Good focuses on the unique connection between athletes and their fans. Witnessing the many positive interactions over the years, Ruvane set out to build Fame4Good which bridges the divide between fans and athletes in a way that brings new sources of funds and attention to celebrity-affiliated charities.
